The Internet has grown rapidly of the past three years and it is now the third most used medium for marketing.
  • 28 Million Britons accessed various companies’ websites in the Month of December 2004 alone.
  • Worldwide £2.6 billion was spent on Christmas 2004 online, that’s up 44.5% on 2003
  • £653 million was spent online in 2004, compared to £408 million in 2003. This is a 60% increase in one year.
  • Internet marketing’s market share has now over taken radio, cinema and outdoor marketing, marketing shares.
  • 50% of homes in the UK are connected to the internet via broadband and they spend twice as long online as users of narrowband
  • 550 Million search queries are submitted each day on search engines
  • 80% of consumers’ online use search engines to look for products before buying.
  • Around 50% of the typed searches are related to business searches
  • Three out of four online users search for product information online before buying offline
  • Search engines are seen as the cheapest and most convenient leads acquisition channel
  • A report produced the average cost of a lead of the search engine cost $0.29 compared to $1.18 in yellow pages and $9.94 in direct mail.
  • Paid search is estimated to grow faster than any other sector of online advertising, predictions are an increase from $2.12 billion in 2004 to $4.5 billion in 2009.
