Headaches and Migraines
Headaches often stem from the neck or face structures and therefore an Osteopath can look at these and assess their function and by releasing their movement can very often improve headache pain and frequency and sometimes completely relieve them. Often the diet plays a role particularly in migraine plus hormonal influence and the Osteopath can help to identify foods which may be triggers plus look at the function of the hormonal system to make sure it is working well. We often find a link with dental braces being worn which is one of the reasons why we would advise any one wearing a brace to have occasional Osteopathic treatment to try to prevent a locking up effect on the face and neck. Treatment afterwards is also recommended in order to restore any function which has been affected. There can be a link to whiplash accidents also where the neck has never regained full movement and function. Also trauma to the head such as large bangs or even fractures can be a direct cause of migraine and headache and can be treated. Plus illnesses such as meningitis and glandular fever or any high and prolonged fever can directly cause headaches and the effects of these illnesses can be assessed and treated. |
