Accommodation

Formerly the village school Huggetts offers four sympathetically adapted rooms to provide first class facilities for the care and education of children. The rooms are light, bright and airy offering a stimulating yet comfortable environment.

The Baby & Toddler rooms offer accommodation for up to 20 children in four zones, with sleep pods, kitchenette, feeding and messy play areas, nappy change and play and comfort zones staffed by qualified, experienced and dedicated staff and overseen by our Baby & Toddler Leader.

Each child is cared for as an individual, taking into consideration their age and stage of development, their personal routines, and any other requirements requested by the parents.

At Huggetts Day Nursery your child will be encouraged to develop through the provision of a variety of activities and experiences aimed at their individual learning.

Before your child starts at Huggetts our Baby & Toddler Leader will discuss all of your child’s needs to ensure continuity of care. A daily record sheet will be completed at the end of each session to provide a detailed account of your child’s day.

Pre-School rooms offer areas for quiet reflective experiences based upon Montessori Practice as well as opportunities for bright, expressive experiences tailored to children’s individual learning by our qualified, experienced and dedicated pre-school staff lead by our Pre-School Leader.

The daily routine though structured, allows for flexibility to enable the Pre-School curriculum to be presented in a relaxed and informal way.

At Huggetts Pre-School children ‘work’ within topical themes which support and underpin their learning. Experiences and learning opportunities are assessed alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage and set at a level appropriate to their age and stage of development. Progress is monitored and recorded by all staff and collated by your child’s Appointed Practitioner whereby it is transferred to their Foundation Stage Profile which can be viewed at any time and will be discussed at our yearly Consultation Evening.

Each day our Pre-Schoolers have an opportunity to take part in a number of extra curricula activities most of which are presented by professionals in their own field: French, Football Skills, Computers, Drama, Dance and Cookery.

Outside the children play in a safe, enclosed play area as well as take part in a variety of learning experiences both in the play area and within our ‘allotment’ area were the children learn how to plant and nurture flowers and vegetables. Children delight in being outdoors and in investigating growth and outdoor life for a variety of flora and mini wildlife.
