About Alison
I always wanted to be a writer. In fact, I knew from about age 11 that I wanted to be a journalist. With that goal in mind, I went to Napier College to study journalism and then did an honours degree in Sociology and Politics at Edinburgh University. Since then I've been:
I met Robert when I was working as a plain language consultant and we realised we shared a keen interest in language. After working together for many years, it seemed to make sense for us to work set up our own company and specialise in what we do best. So that's how Work on Words was born. It's our chance to combine our love of language with our jobs and we're now plain language editors, writers and trainers. I'm passionate about language. And I love sharing our knowledge and skills with our clients to help them produce documents their audiences will understand. I read and proof everything that comes my way. Not just documents I'm asked to edit. I dislike apostrophes in the wrong place, jargon I don't understand and I always text with proper punctuation. |
