 What you get from us

We’ve been professional writers for longer than either of us really cares to admit. And we still love it.

What we do differently from most writers is give you plain language (some people call it plain English).

That means it’s easy to read, understand and the grammar’s spot on. We even text in perfect apostrophes.

 We’ve written:

  • annual reports
  • guidelines and procedures
  • intranet sites
  • leaflets
  • letters
  • newsletters
  • reports
  • websites

Some clients have also asked us to write plain language guidance materials for their staff. We’ve written both printed plain language guidance materials and intranet materials.

Down the years we’ve written hundreds of news stories (as journalists) and news releases (as PR practitioners). We can do these if someone asks, but they’re not our core business.

Our costs and what we charge

We charge £375 a day for writing. This doesn’t include VAT. We charge for the actual hours we work.

If you ask us to write something, we’ll:

  • talk to you about what you want, what you’d like it to achieve and who it’s for
  • agree a clear brief with you
  • set a deadline for when you want the job finished.

We’ll estimate how long we think the work will take, but we’ll charge only for the hours we work.

If the work involves expenses – for example, if we need to travel somewhere or to make a lot of telephone calls for the work you ask us to do – we’ll agree these with you.

Sometimes a job will take longer than we – or you – expected. If this happens we’ll let you know as soon as we can and agree what you want us to do.
